SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna volleyball team sent its
two seniors out on a high note by capturing a five-set victory over
visiting York (Pa.) on Wednesday night. Prior to the start of the
match, SU honored its two senior members: Natalie Cicioni
(Frackville, Pa./North Schuylkill) and Kate Reese
(Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area).
The Crusaders (17-15) grabbed a 25-21 win in the opening set
before falling 23-25 in the second. They also dropped a 24-26
decision in the third set before rallying to win 14-25, 16-14 in
the final two sets.
Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell)
capped off her last home game of the 2011 season with a
double-double, racking up 25 kills and 22 digs to go along with
five total blocks, two service aces and a .383 attack
percentage.
Reese, meanwhile, led the way defensively with 27 digs while
Samantha Adler (Montville, N.J./Montville
Township) and Julia Caruso (Collegeville,
Pa./Perkiomen Valley) combined for 50 assists with a
team-high 30 for Adler. Adler also added 12 digs for the
Crusaders.
On the net, SU finished with 18 block assists and four solo blocks.
Kaylee Monga (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) had an
impressive 10 by herself with three of the solo variety.
SU hits the road to compete at the two-day Birmingham Southern
Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
