BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Susquehanna women's volleyball team
split its pair of matches on the final day of the Birmingham
Southern Tournament. SU opened with a 3-0 win over Fisk before
falling 3-1 to Berry.
The day opened with the three-set sweep of Fisk with scores of
25-7, 25-14, 25-13. The Crusaders (18-18) then fell 13-25, 11-25,
25-22, 22-25 to Berry (15-14).
Against Fisk, Emily Carson
(Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) had 21 kills and a .488
attack percentage in the win to go along with three digs.
Julia
Caruso (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) and
Samantha Adler
(Montville, N.J./Montville Twp.) both had double-digit
assists with Caruso leading with 20 and Adler chipping in 11.
Caruso also had five digs while Adler had six.
Senior Kate Reese (Wellsboro,
Pa./Wellsboro) led the team in both digs (23) and service
aces (3).
In the final match of the weekend, Carson added 10 more kills and
13 digs, brining her total kills for the day to 31. Caruso led the
team with 14 assists while Reese had 21 digs.
Reese and Carson were just two of four SU players with double-digit
dig totals, as Dana Kreutzer
(Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) added 12 and
Amanda
Miles (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff had 10.
Junior middle hitter Kaylee Monga (Rockaway, N.J. /
Morris Knolls) was named to the 2011 BSC Fall
Invitational All-Tournament Team, as voted by the coaches.
