HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Susquehanna men's basketball team saw its five-game win streak snapped on Thursday night in an 83-75 loss at PSU-Harrisburg. The game marked SU's first contest in nearly two weeks.

The Crusaders (5-5) were down by eight at the half but both squads put together 43-point second halves and the Nittany Lions (7-3) held on to that eight-point margin of victory.

Senior Spenser Spencer (Seattle, Wash./Lakeside) had a team-best 18 points while sophomore Harley Sellinger chipped in 10 and rookie Matt McGugan (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) added 15 points in his 15 minutes of action off the bench.

No player was a match for PSU-Harrisburg's Steve Jones, who scored 39 points to account for nearly half of his team's scoring output on the evening.

Turnovers were also costly for SU, as the Crusaders had 21 miscues that led to 28 Nittany Lions points. PSU-Harrisburg, meanwhile, had just seven turnovers all evening.

Susquehanna was able to take a one-point lead at five different points in the opening minutes of the game, including leading 12-11 with 13:45 on the clock. That would mark SU's final lead of the game, however.

The Nittany Lions went up by double digits, 28-17, with just under seven minutes remaining in the half. SU cut the lead to seven points four times in the closing five minutes but two PSU-Harrisburg buckets in the final 48 seconds put SU in an eight-point halftime deficit, 40-32.

The Crusaders trailed by a game-high 17 points (52-35) with16 minutes to play but managed to cut PSU-Harrisburg's lead to single digits, 64-56, on a Spencer jumper with 7:50 on the clock.

It was a 81-70 Nittany Lions' lead with 38 seconds to play but unfortunately five points from McGugan in the final 28 seconds were too little too late for Susquehanna.

SU opens the New Year at home on Jan. 3 with a 7:30 game against Thaddeus Stevens.
