WASHINGTON, D.C. – Susquehanna women's lacrosse team
could not come up with enough offense to take down Landmark
Conference foe Catholic, falling 16-3 on Saturday afternoon in
Washington, D.C.
The Crusaders (7-6, 0-2) managed just 18 shots and three goals
against the Cardinals (9-3, 3-0), who remain undefeated in league
play.
Freshman Michelle McGinniss (Randolph,
N.J./Randolph) accounted for two of SU's three
goals. Classmate Katelyn Brower (North Caldwell, N.J./West
Essex) finished with six saves in her 60 minutes of
action. Five of those saves came in the first half.
SU could not catch its breath in the first half as the Cardinals
scored the first 10 goals of the game. With less than a minute to
play in the half, McGinniss finally broke that streak with an
unassisted score that made it 10-1.
Catholic put together another stretch of goals to open the second
half, scoring four unanswered goals within the first nine minutes
to take a 14-1 advantage. The Crusaders did score two of the final
four goals of the game but the Cardinals had already put the game
out of reach.
