GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's volleyball
team dropped a pair of matches at the Old Friends Crossover
Tournament, hosted by Messiah. The Crusaders fell 3-1 to Messiah
and dropped a 3-0 decision to Elizabethtown.
SU (3-8) fell to Messiah in four sets (17-25, 25-23, 21-25, 23-25).
Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J./James
Caldwell) and Hayley Dunkel (Pottsville,
Pa./Pottsville Area) had eight kills apiece to lead
Susquehanna while Carson also tallied a team-high 18 digs for her
third-straight double-double.
Carson was one of four players with double-digit dig totals as she
was joined by Morgan Jackson (Baltimore,
Md./Catonsville) (16), Jessica Cornman-Homonoff
(Brooklyn, Conn./Woodstock Academy) (13) and Shona
St. Angelo (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) (11).
St. Angelo had added 14 assists. Meanwhile, Kaylee Monga
(Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) boasted four solo blocks
while Dunkel added three of her own.
Against the Blue Jays, SU lost in straight sets (22-25, 21-25,
14-25). Carson yet again led the team in kills with 10 to
complement her seven digs. St. Angelo racked up 17 digs and 11
assists while Jackson had 10 digs.
The Crusaders are hosting their Alumni Meet on Saturday at noon.
Next weekend, the team travels to the University of Chicago
Tournament on Sept. 23 and 24.
