Susquehanna's Korey McCaffrey (Millheim, Pa./Penns
Valley Area) sank a three-pointer to help send SU's

prevailed 59-56.
It was a defensive battle with the teams were tied at 51 at the end
of regulation and then combined for just 13 points in overtime.

limited the Gophers (4-11, 1-4) to just a 33 percent showing. Both
squads struggled at the free throw line, going a combined
27-for-45.
McCaffrey had no trouble finding the basket, though, scoring a
game-high 16 points to go along with seven rebounds, two blocks and
two steals.
Freshman Eleni Dimou (Center Valley, Pa./Southern
Lehigh) was the only other Crusader to post double figures
with her 13 points. Gina Palazzi
(Newfoundland, Pa./Wallenpaupack) fell one board and two
points shy of a double-double with a team-high nine rebounds and
eight points on 3-of-6 shooting.
The lead swapped sides for the opening minutes of the regulation
and the Crusaders found themselves down by just one, 6-5, after an
Ainsley Rossitto (Rocky Hill,
Conn./Kingswood-Oxford) free throw at 15:09. Unfortunately
for SU, Goucher countered with a 16-4 run to build a 13-point lead
(22-9) with just over seven minutes remaining in the half.
Amarra Boone (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley)
broke that stretch with two free throws at 6:37 for a 22-11 score.
Back-to-back McCaffrey jumpers made it a 24-15 game with 1:06
remaining and two Mariah Monahan (Towanda, Pa./Towanda
Area) free throws at the 23-second mark kept it a
nine-point game, 26-17, at halftime.
The Crusaders pulled within five (30-25) with 14:26 still to play
after consecutive jump shots from Dimou and McCaffrey.
Dimou made it three-straight buckets for the Crusaders with a
jumper at 13:38 that quickly trimmed Goucher's lead to three
(30-27). Two Palazzi free throws just over one minute later made it
a one-point contest, 30-29, and SU regained the lead (32-30) on a
Nora Joyce (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) trey with
10:30 on the clock.
Both teams went on 5-0 runs and it was 41-all with 5:36 remaining.
Goucher went up by two, 46-44, at the 4:45 mark. Two minutes later,
it was a 47-44 game before McCaffrey's layup brought her
squad back within one at 47-46.
With 1:04 to play, Dimou was fouled and proceed to sink both free
throws to keep it a one-point game (49-48).
The clock ran down to 18 seconds before McCaffrey drained the
game-tying bucket that made it 51-51 and eventually sent the game
to extra time.
Two minutes into overtime, it was 55-54 Goucher, but with 1:43 on
the clock, McCaffrey went to the free throw line and made one of
two free throws to tie the game (55-55).
With one minute on the clock, Goucher's Sharnell Huff sank
two free throws for a 57-56 Gouchers edge and then proceeded to
drain a jumper with 21 seconds on the clock for a three-point
Goucher lead (59-56) which proved to be the decisive bucket.
The women are back at home beginning Friday with a 7:30 p.m. game
against Scranton.
