MADISON, N.J. – The Susquehanna women's basketball team
could put only 35 points on the board against Drew on Saturday
afternoon, ultimately falling 65-35 to the Rangers.
The Crusaders (4-16, 1-8) struggled defending the three-point shot
all afternoon. In the first half alone the Rangers (7-13, 3-6) sank
six baskets from beyond the arc and finished with a 9-for-20 effort
from three-point range.
Susquehanna's Mariah Monahan (Towanda, Pa./Towanda
Area) led the team with eight points while Korey
McCaffrey (Millheim, Pa./Penns Valley Area) pulled down a
team-best seven rebounds.
Drew led from start to finish in the game, going up 6-0 early in
the game. With two minutes left in the half, SU found itself down
by 14 points (28-14) and combined with a Katherin Luby three with
10 seconds to play, Drew went into halftime leading 33-14 over
Susquehanna.
The Rangers quickly went up by 20 before a Shannon Grunwald jumper
at the 13:48 mark made it a 16-point game (39-23). Unfortunately,
that marked the closest SU got to the lead for the remainder of the
game as Drew went up by 30 (65-35) with 46 seconds to play, which
ultimately marked the game's final score.
The women return to the road next weekend beginning with a 5:30
p.m. game at Moravian on Friday night.
