BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Saturday's 3-0 win over the Merchant
Marine Academy clinched the No. 4 seed for the Susquehanna
women's volleyball team in the Landmark Conference
Tournament. SU defeated the Mariners (11-13, 0-6) in straight sets,
25-18, 25-23, 25-12.
The Crusaders (14-16, 3-3) will host No. 5 seed Scranton on Oct. 31
at 7 p.m. in a quarterfinal matchup.
In the win over USMMA, Torrie Garner (James Creek,
Pa./Huntingdon Area) led the team with six kills while
Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) and
Hayley Dunkel (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area)
added five apiece, with Dunkel hitting for a .444 attack
percentage.
Alissa Sellers (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area)
had a team-high 12 digs and added two service aces while
Julia Caruso (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley)
finished with 15 assists and three digs. Kaylee Monga
(Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) had a solid all-around
effort with four kills, one dig and four block assists and a .571
attack percentage.
The Mariners did not record a single block while hitting just .020
as a team against the Crusaders.
