Conference Game Fails to Go SU's Way

Box Score

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's soccer team had 85 minutes to respond to an early Juniata goal but could not put the ball in the net and ultimately fell 1-0 to the Eagles on Tuesday evening in Huntingdon.

Juniata scored in the sixth minute of the game and held SU (4-8-2, 2-4-1) scoreless and to just six shots, including just two first-half shots. Jessica Takats (West Islip, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and Megan Stevens (Pipersville, Pa./Palisades) had two shots apiece. The Eagles (9-5-1, 2-2-0), meanwhile, took 20 shots.

SU goalie Rachel Norbuts (Monroeville, N.J./Woodstown) made six saves on seven shots on goal by Juniata.

The Crusaders found themselves in an early, 1-0 hole after Juniata's Rose Lucidi scored after 5:18 of play. The teams traded shots for the next few minutes but the Eagles went into halftime still holding onto that 1-0 and with a 7-2 edge in shots.

Juniata fired off 13 second-half shots but none found the back of the net. Susquehanna's offense, however, was held without a shot for the final 12-plus minutes after Angela Amato (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) took the team's last shot at the 77:54 mark.

SU has the weekend off before hitting the road on Oct. 25 to face Penn College at 5 p.m.
