BALTIMORE, Md. – The Susquehanna volleyball team traveled to
Baltimore on Saturday to take part in the Johns Hopkins Tri-Match
and earned a split with a win over Bryn Mawr before falling to the
host Blue Jays.
The Crusaders (15-17) defeated Bryn Mawr in three sets (25-7,
25-19, 25-13) before dropping a three-set decision to Johns Hopkins
(25-22, 18-25, 20-25, 23-25).
Against the Owls (7-17), the team hit for an impressive .459 attack
percentage. Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J./James
Caldwell) led with eight kills and a .727 attack
percentage. Morgan Whiteman (Camp Hill,
Pa./Trinity) added seven kills, four aces and three digs
while Alissa Sellers (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon
Area) finished with five kills, one ace and six digs.
Julia Caruso (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen
Valley) led all players with 30 assists and also chipped
in five digs while Sarah Paluck (Nesquehoning, Pa./Tamaqua
Area) led the team with 12 digs.
In the four-set decision against the Blue Jays (25-3), Carson added
another nine kills and racked up 13 digs to fall just one kill shy
of a double-double. Paluck picked up 24 digs and Caruso added
another 15 assists and three digs. Despite the loss, SU still had a
total of 10 blocks while Johns Hopkins had only three.
SU hosts PSU-Altoona on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. where the team
will host Senior Night as well as Faculty Appreciation Night.
