Dallas-Texas Box Score

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Day one of the Southwestern (Texas) Tournament resulted in two losses for the Susquehanna women's volleyball team as they took one arguably some of its toughest competition of the season.

SU (16-19) fell in straight sets to both opponents. Against Austin (20-12), they dropped 14-25, 21-25 and 25-27 sets and fell in three to Texas-Dallas (24-12) by scores of 18-25, 18-25, 18-25.

Against the Kangaroos, the team did hit for a .248 attack percentage but still fell in straight sets. In the match, Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) led her squad with 13 kills, six assists and seven digs.

Adding nine kills was Jessica Holm (Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills) and Julia Caruso (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) chipped in 24 assist and seven digs. Defensively, Sarah Paluck (Nesquehoning, Pa./Tamaqua Area) picked up 15 digs and led SU with her three service aces.

The Comets were also able to win in three sets against the Crusaders. Carson again led Susquehanna in kills with seven but had only five digs and zero blocks. She did, however, add 12 assists, as did Caruso. Paluck had 16 assists but as a team, SU finished with only two block assists.

The Crusaders play in two more matches on Saturday to wrap-up their trip to Texas. SU will face Hardin-Simmons to open the day and conclude the afternoon with a match against host Southwestern.
