SCRANTON, Pa. – The Susquehanna offense could not find its
rhythm as the field hockey squad dropped a 4-0 road decision to
Landmark Conference opponent Scranton on Saturday afternoon.
The Royals (8-3, 3-0) were able to fire off 20 shots while
limiting SU (3-9, 1-3) so just eight, led by a team-high four from
senior Ally Bradley (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks
South); all four of Bradley's shots were on
goal.
Less than 10 minutes into the game, the Royals' Alyssa
Whitman scored on a 14-yard tap-in to put the Crusaders in a 1-0
hole.
SU's defense was able to hold Scranton off the scoreboard
for the remainder of the half to go into halftime down just 1-0.
Unfortunately, the Royals struck three times within a five-minute
span in the second half to put the game out of reach.
Crusader goalie Margaret Ruth (Lewisberry,
Pa./Northern) played all seven minutes and racked up eight
saves, seven of which came in the second half.
SU returns to action on Oct. 9 with a 7 p.m. game at Wilkes.
