Field Hockey Falls in Semifinals to Catholic

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Susquehanna field hockey team was unable to take down No. 1 seed Catholic, falling 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in the semifinal round of the 2012 Landmark Conference Tournament.

SU (6-13), the No. 4 seed, was limited to just one shot all game while the Cardinals (11-7) fired off 33 shots, 24 of which were on goal. Crusader goalie Margaret Ruth (Lewisberry, Pa./Northern) was kept on her toes all afternoon, racking up an eye-popping 20 saves.

Ally Bradley (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks South) recorded the lone shot for SU, which came in the first half of the game.

Catholic was able to score two goals within the first 13:14 of the game and held on to that 2-0 lead at halftime. Hayley Wright, who picked up an assist in the first half, scored the third and final goal for the Cardinals just 10 minutes into the second half to pad her squad's lead.

Catholic will now host Drew in Sunday's championship game.
