HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's volleyball
team will not be competing in the Landmark Conference championship
match for the first time since 2007 as SU fell 3-1 to No. 1 seed
Juniata in Saturday's semifinal match.
The Crusaders (17-22) did take the No. 23 Eagles (23-11) to four
sets, not an easy feat, but after winning the first set dropped the
next three. SU won the first set by a 27-25 score before falling
12-25, 16-25, 11-25.
Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell),
playing in the final collegiate match of her career, recorded a
double-double with her 14 kills and 13 digs. She was the lone
Crusader player with a double-digit kill total but Sarah
Paluck (Nesquehoning, Pa./Tamaqua Area) added a team-high
28 digs.
Morgan Whiteman (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) had a
solid all-around match with 24 assists, one service ace, six digs
and three block assists. As a team, SU had 19 total blocks to
Juniata's nine. Kaylee Monga (Rockaway, N.J./Morris
Knolls) accounted for six of those blocks with her two
solo blocks and four block assists.
For the Eagles, four players reached double-digit kill tallies with
two of those players also reaching 10 or more digs for the
match.
