SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna's baseball team
defeated Elizabethtown 4-3 after scoring the winning run off an
error in the bottom of the ninth on Tuesday afternoon at Bollinger
Field.
Nick Kennedy (Brookeville, Md. /Good Council)
scored the game-winner after the Blue Jays' first baseman
overthrew home plate to give the Crusaders the victory.
Kennedy started the bottom of the ninth with an infield single
and Ty Raubenstine (Elizabethville, Pa. / Upper Dauphin
Area) followed with another infield hit.
After Ethan Rieker (Lancaster, Pa. / Manheim
Twp.) was intentionally walked, Nick Ferlise (Toms
River, N.J. / Toms River North) grounded to first with the
ensuing throw resulting in the walk-off error.
Kennedy finished the game 3-for-5 with an RBI single in the
fifth. Kyle Semmel (Burlington Twp., N.J. /Holy
Cross) went 3-for-4 with a double. Raubenstine, Rieker and
Alex Miskovsky (Manchester Center, Vt. / Burr & Burton
Academy) all finished with two hits apiece. Nick
Testo (Mount Airy, Md. / Avalon) also picked up an RBI in
the SU win.
Brian Wendig (West Chester, Pa. / Malvern Prep)
pitched 8 1/3 innings, striking out four Blue Jays and scattering
11 hits while allowing only one earned run.
Matt Lottes (Muttontown, N.Y. / Long Island
Lutheran) picked up his third win of the season, going 2/3
of an inning with two punch outs.
SU travels to Bethlehem to play Landmark Conference opponent
Moravian on Saturday, March 31 in a doubleheader starting at 1:00
