WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Eighteen goals on offense combined with a defense that surrendered only five added up to yet another win for the Susquehanna women's lacrosse team as SU took down Lycoming 18-5. The victory stretched the Crusaders' win streak to eight.

SU (8-0), which is receiving votes in the most recent IWLCA poll, remains undefeated on the season at 8-0.  

A 12-goal first half essentially put the game out of reach early. Nine players accounted for those 12 goals with three from Meredith Crane (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia), Michelle McGinniss (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) and Brynn Reid (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove). Crane also added two assists on the afternoon.

The Crusaders edged Lycoming (3-5) in nearly every category, holding a decisive 45-16 edge in shots, 41-25 advantage in ground balls and won 16 draw controls to the Warriors' nine.

Goalie Emily Stankaitis (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) played the first 42:44 of the game and gave up only three goals while making six saves. Katelyn Brower (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex) played the remainder of the game and gave up three goals while recording two saves.

It was a high-scoring first half for SU, to say the least. The Crusaders put 12 goals on the scoreboard with 10 coming in the first 12 minutes.

It took Reid 25 seconds to get the scoring started, netting a goal with 29:35 on the clock. She struck again just 13 seconds later and after just 57 seconds of play, Meredith Crane got in on the scoring action for a 3-0 SU lead after less than a minute of play.

Ally Bauer (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) made it 4-0 with her first score of the game before Lycoming made it a 4-1 game with more than 27 minutes remaining in the half. Susquehanna then rattled off five unanswered goals for a 10-1 game.

With 14:49 on the clock, Alison Fatznytz (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) scored, making it 11-2 and by the 11-minute mark, SU had opened up a 10-goal lead (12-2) on the Warriors.

That remained the score as the game headed into halftime.

SU came out in the second half and promptly put together another run of goals, this time stringing together six unanswered scores that made it 18-2. Lycoming did score the final three goals of the game to make it a final score of 18-5.

SU returns home this Sunday to host Shenandoah at 2 p.m.
