SELINSGROVE, Pa. – It was a long time coming but it was worth
the wait as the Susquehanna women's tennis team defeated
Goucher 5-4 in a match that was suspended due to darkness on March
27.
With just one singles match left to play, Brielle Ferlauto
(Neshanic Station, N.J./Somerville) defeated Vickey Casey
6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (3-0) to clinch the victory for SU (6-4, 1-1).
Ferlauto's win was one of three Crusaders singles victories
as Julia Lerner (Arlington, Va./Washington-Lee)
won at first singles by 6-3, 6-4 scores and Jessica Klinger
(Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) defeated her opponent 7-6
(9-7), 1-6, 6-1.
In doubles action, Shelby O'Riley (Ware,
Mass./Quabbin Regional) and Abby Hess
(Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) won 8-6 and Ellen
Pulsinelle (Lyndhurst, N.J./Immaculate Conception) and
Ferlauto defeated their Goucher opponent 8-5.
The Crusaders are back in action on April 1 with a 4 p.m. match at
Marywood.
