FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Susquehanna's baseball team
dropped both of its contests Sunday afternoon at the Lawnwood
Complex. The Crusaders lost to Bridgewater State 6-3 and fell to
PSU-Brandywine 10-3.
Against the Bears, SU gave up two first inning runs to fall
behind 2-0. Bridgewater State scored once in the second and three
times in the fifth to go up 6-0.
The Crusaders rallied during the top of the sixth when
Nick Ferlise (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River North)
drove in Calvin Hug (West Chester, Pa. /
Unionville), Ethan Reiker (Lancaster, Pa. /
Manheim Twp.) scored on an error and Alex
Miskovsky (Manchester Center, Vt. / Burr & Burton
Academy) picked up an RBI to cut the deficit in half,
6-3.
But Bridgewater only gave up three more hits for the rest of the
contest to hold on to the win.
Andy Sadoski went the distance for the Bears, scattering seven
hits while striking out eight.
Starting pitcher Zach Place (Towanda, Pa. /
Towanda) was charged with the loss, tossing 4 1/3 innings
and striking out six.
In the second game of the afternoon, the Crusaders were plagued
by nine costly errors and lost to PSU-Brandywine 10-3.
Starting pitcher Matt Boyd (Camp Hill, Pa. / Camp
Hill) hurled an effective game however, striking out ten
Nittany Lions in seven innings while only giving up three hits and
one walk.
Ty Raubenstine (Elizabethville, Pa. / Upper Dauphin
Area) and Nick Kennedy (Brookeville, Md. / Good
Council) picked up RBIs for the Crusaders (2-4).
Dan Wing (West Chester, Pa. / Unionville /
Catawba) went 2-for-3 at the plate.
The Orange & Maroon are back on the field tomorrow morning
for a double-header against Marywood, with the first game slated to
begin at 9:00 a.m.
