SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna's women's lacrosse team remained undefeated on the year as they beat non-conference foe Shenandoah 16-8 on Sunday afternoon.
SU (9-0) trailed in the early going of the first half 2-1, but went on a 9-0 run and led at the break 12-6. The Crusaders outshot Shenandoah (10-3) 31-10 in the first half.
Michelle McGinniss (Randolph, N.J. / Randolph) and Emma Ehler (Chatham, N.J. / Chatham / Towson) both scored four goals in the opening half.
The second half was quieter offensively for both teams. The Hornets scored back-to-back goals to trim the SU lead to 12-8 with 11:44 remaining in the game. But the Crusaders went on a 4-0 run to put the game out of reach, including a hat trick by Brynn Reid (West Grove, Pa. /Avon Grove).
Ehler finished with five goals for SU and McGinniss ended with four scores and 10 draw controls. Lindsey Derstine (Coopersburg, Pa. / Southern Lehigh) scored twice and Ellie Rosenblum (Merrick, N.Y. / Sanford H. Calhoun) picked up a game-high eight ground balls.
Emily Stankaitis (Honeoye Falls, N.Y. / Honeoye Falls-Lima) stopped seven shots, earning her ninth win of the year.
The Crusaders will look to continue their winning streak as they host Frostburg State on Tuesday, April 3 at 4:00 p.m.
