GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Crusaders surrendered eight runs in
the first inning and could never recover as SU dropped a
non-conference contest to Messiah 19-8 on Wednesday afternoon.
SU (13-19) scored four runs in the third inning as Ty
Raubenstine (Elizabethville, Pa. / Upper Dauphin
Area) cracked a double to left field and later scored on
an error by the shortstop. Ethan Rieker (Lancaster, Pa. /
Manheim Twp.) ripped an RBI double to right field and
Greg Uhlak (Ocean Gate, N.J. / Central Regional)
picked up an RBI single for the Crusaders.
Susquehanna put three more runs on the board in the sixth
including a run scoring single by Mike Rucereto (Washington
Twp., N.J. / Bergen Catholic) but the Crusaders could
never recover from the first inning defecit.
Rieker went 4-for-5 in the game with two RBI. Jared
Musilli (Branchville, N.J. / High Point Regional) went
2-for-2 and Raubenstine went 2-for-3.
The Crusaders host Landmark Conference opponent Catholic over
the weekend, starting with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 21 at
1:00 p.m.
