MADISON, N.J. – The Susquehanna women's tennis team
took down Drew 5-4 while the men's team fell 9-0 to the
Rangers on Saturday afternoon.
Julia Lerner (Arlington, Va./Washington-Lee) won
at first singles 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. Abby Hess (Hughesville,
Pa./Hughesville) won 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 which was followed a
Brielle Ferlauto (Neshanic Station,
N.J./Somerville) victory at sixth singles (6-0, 6-0).
SU won two of three doubles matches. Hess and Shelby
O'Riley (Ware, Mass./Quabbin Regional) won 8-3 while
Lerner and Jessica Klinger (Hummelstown,
Pa./Hershey) won 8-6.
The men fell in straight sets in singles action but took the first
two doubles matches to 8-6 scores from Garrett Lynn
(Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) and Jeremy
Neville (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) and Michael
Hickey (Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth) and Mats Haaland
(Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick).
The women's team is back in action at the Landmark Conference
semifinals against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
