SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna's baseball team
wrapped up the 2012 season with an 18-2 loss to non-conference
opponent Gettysburg on Monday afternoon.
The Crusaders (15-25) pounded out 12 hits in the contest but the
Bullets (25-15) put together a ten-run seventh inning to put the
game out of reach. Gettysburg also turned a triple-play in the
bottom of the frame.
Nick Ferlise (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River
North) went 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles.
Zach Place (Towanda, Pa. / Towanda Area) collected
two hits, including his second homer of the year, a solo shot to
left field in the fourth. Ty Raubenstine (Elizabethville,
Pa. / Upper Dauphin Area) had two hits, an RBI and two
stolen bases.
Senior Ethan Rieker (Lancaster, Pa. / Manheim
Twp.) had one hit in his final game in Orange &
Maroon. He hit 17 doubles this year, the best mark in program
history. His 43 RBI and 61 hits are both tied for second-most for a
season.
Pitcher Matt Lottes (Muttowntown, N.Y. / Long Island
Luthern) appeared in the ninth inning. He finishes his
career with 14 victories, ninth all-time in SU history.
