SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna bats were quieted in a
3-0, series finale loss to Landmark Conference opponent Scranton on
Monday afternoon.
SU (12-15, 2-7) had just one hit and one walk over nine innings.
The Royals (12-9, 5-4), meanwhile, had only six hits themselves but
were able to translate that into three runs, also aided by four
walks and a Crusader error. Second baseman Jared Musilli
(Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) accounted for the
lone Susquehanna base hit.
Starter Casey Hood (Shrewsbury,
Pa./Susquehannock/IUP) went six innings and surrendered
three runs, just one of which was earned. He struck out nine
batters but also walked four.
Scranton put solo runs on the board in the third, fourth and sixth
innings to take the 3-0 lead.
SU put only three runners on base over the final three innings,
including two in eighth inning, but the Crusaders were was retired
in order in the ninth to end the game.
The Crusaders have a quick turnaround with a game tomorrow at
King's (Pa.). First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
