ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. –Surrendering two late goals,
Susquehanna's field hockey team dropped a tough 3-2 decision
at No. 18 Elizabethtown on Wednesday evening.
The Blue Jays (4-1) took an early lead after scoring in the
11th minute of the first half.
SU (2-3) got the equalizer as senior Ally Bradley
(Jamison, Pa. / Central Bucks South) notched her second
goal of the season in the closing seconds of the opening period on
a penalty shot.
The Crusaders grabbed the 2-1 lead when junior Sam LaCoe
(Clarks Summit, Pa. / Abington Heights) scored her first
career goal off an Emily Reich (Livingston, N.J. /
Livingston) pass in the 60th minute.
But Elizabethtown knotted the game at 2-2 less than two minutes
later and took the lead at 63:28 after scoring on a scramble in the
box. The Blue Jays scored the game winner playing a man-down after
a yellow card.
Offensively, the Crusaders had six shots and four penalty
corners. Goalkeeper Margaret Ruth (Lewisberry, Pa. /
Northern) recorded three saves and faced 12 shots by the
Blue Jays.
SU returns to Selinsgrove to host King's (Pa.) on
Saturday, Sept. 15 at 1:00 p.m.
