ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's tennis team defeated Lebanon Valley 6-3 on Saturday afternoon to open its 2012 fall season with a victory.

The Crusaders (1-0) took two of three doubles matches. Abby Hess (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) and Shelby O'Riley (Ware, Mass./Quabbin Regional) defeated their counterparts 8-1 and freshmen partners Jess Lage (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) and Allison Lobell (Harrisburg, Pa./Lower Dauphin) won at third doubles 8-6.

O'Riley went on to win at first singles while Hess picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win at second singles. Brielle Ferlauto (Neshanic Station, N.J./Somerville) took home a win at fourth singles and Claire Smyth (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) won the final singles of the day.

The women return to the court on Sept. 22 when they travel to King's (Pa.) for an 11 a.m. match.
