SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna's men's tennis
team fell to non-conference opponent Elmira 5-4 in the 2012 home
opening match at James W. Garrett Sports Complex Wednesday
afternoon.
The Crusaders (0-2) received three singles victories against the
Flying Eagles (1-0). Senior Michael Hickey (Yarmouth, Maine
/ Yarmouth) defeated his opponent 6-4, 1-6 (10-8) at
number one singles.
Sophomore Garrett Lynn (Glastonbury, Conn. /
Glastonbury) won 5-7, 6-4 (10-8) at number two. At number
three, senior Mats Haaland (Brunswick, Maine /
Brunswick) captured the win, 6-4, 6-0.
In doubles action, SU could only manage one win as
Hickey and Lynn teamed up to
defeat their foe 8-2.
The Crusaders head to Wilkes-Barre to take on King's at
2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22.
