MADISON, N.J. – The 2012 Landmark Conference field hockey opener did not go the way of Susquehanna as the Crusaders fell 7-1 on the road at Drew on Saturday afternoon.

Drew (5-2, 1-0) took 22 shots to SU's nine and 17 of those shots were on goal. The Rangers put together a four-goal first half and followed that with three additional goals in the final 35 minutes. Susquehanna (2-6, 0-1) dropped its sixth-straight game.

Ally Bradley (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks South) recorded the lone SU goal which came at the 22:41 mark of the first half. She finished with two shots in the game.

Crusader goalie Alyssa Rothman (Trooper, Pa./Methacton) played all 70 minutes and picked up nine saves in the game. Drew kept the pressure on Rothman all afternoon as they took 13 penalty corners and fired off 15 shots in the first half alone.

The Rangers went up 3-0 after 20:35 of action thanks to two Brook Gagliano goals and another score from Sami Calabrese. Bradley broke up that streak with an unassisted goal with less than 13 minutes to play in the half but Drew ended the period by scoring at the 31:42 mark to go into halftime up 4-1 over SU.

Drew tacked on three insurance goals within the first 25 minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach.

The Crusaders are back on the road Sept. 26 to take on Montclair State at 7 p.m.
