WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Susquehanna men's and women's tennis teams swept their respective matches against King's (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon.

The men's team won a close, 5-4 decision while the women picked up a decisive 8-1 victory.

For the women, the only loss came in doubles as the Crusaders swept every other match, including all six singles matches. Abby Hess (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) and Shelby O'Riley (Ware, Mass./Quabbin Regional) won their respective singles matches and teamed up to win at first doubles. Jessica Lage (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) won her fifth-singles match and paired up with Allison Lobell (Harrisburg, Pa./Lower Dauphin) to win the third and final women's doubles match of the afternoon.

On the men's side, SU won four of six singles matches. Michael Hickey (Yarmouth, Maine / Yarmouth) opened at first singles wit a 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 win. Garrett Lynn (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) won at second singles 6-0, 6-4, Mats Haaland (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) won at third singles 6-0, 6-0 and Kevin Schneider (Ridge, N.Y./Longwood) picked up the final Crusaders' singles win 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 at sixth singles.

In doubles action, SU was able to only pick up one win as Ian Endresen (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) and Haaland won at second doubles 8-4.

The men's team returns to the court on Oct. 3 at PSU-Harrisburg while the women are next in action on Oct. 6 at St. Mary's (Md.).
