WASHINGTON, D.C. – Three players scored in double figures
for Susquehanna's men's basketball team Wednesday
night, but this wasn't enough as the Crusaders fell to
11th-ranked Catholic 82-65.
SU (5-11, 1-4) were led by freshman Brandon Hedley
(Silver Spring, Md. / Salisbury Prep.) who scored 16
points, 12 of which came from long distance. Classmates
Luke Cable (York, Pa. / West York) and
Josh Miller (Strasburg, Pa. / Lampeter Strasburg)
scored 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Harley Sellinger (Mill Hall, Pa. / Central
Mountain) pulled down a team-best seven boards in the
defeat.
The Cardinals (14-2, 4-1) had every starter score in
double-digits, as Chris Kearney and Steve
Limberiou each had 19 points. Catholic shot 52.6 percent
from the field, 50 percent from behind the arc, and 80 percent from
the foul line.
Miller made a jumper at 17:48 in the first half, giving SU an
early lead. From then on, Catholic went on a 25-8 run in the next
nine minutes.
Hedley cut the deficit to eight (39-31) with only 48 ticks left
in the first half, but a pair of free throws gave the Cardinals a
41-31 lead going into intermission.
Catholic opened up the second period on a quick 7-0 spurt and
pushed their lead to 20 (57-37) at 14:39. SU got within 14
points after a Cable three-pointer, but that was the closest the
