GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's soccer team
suffered a 4-0 road loss at Gettysburg on Wednesday afternoon. The
Bullets (7-1-2) used two first-half goals and two second-half goals
to come away with the win over SU (1-8-1).
Gettysburg's defense limited the Crusaders to just two shots
in the game, one from Hannah Jones (Lewisburg,
Pa./Lewisburg Area/Bucknell) and the other from
Jessica Takats (West Islip, N.Y./St.
Anthony's). Starting goalie Rachel Norbuts
(Monroeville, N.J./Woodstown) played the first half and
finished with three saves while freshman Jordyn Slocum
(Eagleville, Pa./Methacton) played the final 45 minutes
and tallied five stops.
Gettysburg opened the scoring on a goal 12 minutes into the game
on a header and with less than three minutes to play in the half,
Lauren Schapiro made it a 2-0 Bullets lead with a shot from 35
yards out that found the back of the net.
The Crusaders kept it a 2-0 game until the 78th minute
of the game when they fell behind 3-0 and Hannah Theurer netted the
Bullets' fourth goal just four minutes later for a 4-0
contest, which remained the final score as time expired.
Susquehanna returns to action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. game at
Landmark Conference opponent Drew.
