MADISON, N.J. /LEWISBURG, Pa. – In the third Landmark
Conference meet of the season, the Susquehanna swimming teams
competed at Drew on Saturday, with the men's team defeating
the Rangers 130-45 and the women falling 107-96.
The teams also competed at Bucknell for the second consecutive
day where Alex Bornman (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland
Valley) set the school record in the 100 breaststroke with
her time of 1:09.83. Kelsey Lessard (Chestertown, Md. /
Queen Anne's County) finished directly behind with a
mark of 1:10.19
The women's 'A' team placed 16th in
the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:52.83 behind the work of
Erin McElwee (Phoenixville, Pa. / Phoenixville
Area), Lessard, Ashlee Weingarten (Hackettstown,
N.J. / Hackettstown) and Kyle Seaman (Moreland
Hills, Ohio / Orange).
Lessard also competed in the 400 IM, touching the wall in
4:44.63, shattering her PR by 12 seconds, and McElwee posted a
personal-best mark of 1:00.13 in the 100 backstroke as both were
the lone Division III performers in the events.
As for the men, the Crusaders finished the 200 medley relay tied
for 11th place with Binghamton as Lucas Cherry
(Falls Church, Va. / George Mason), Danny Csakai
(Bethlehem, Pa. / Freedom), Eric Lawrence
(Bethlehem, Pa. / Freedom) and Duncan Frazier
(Montgomery, Pa. / Williamsport Area) finished in
1:36.72.
Csakai touched the wall in the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.84 and
Cherry swam the 100 backstroke in a personal-best 54.37 as the two
were also the lone Division III competitors.
At Drew, the men's 400 medley relay 'A' team
comprised of Jacob Boylan (Pottstown, Pa.
/Pottsgrove), Dillon Warr (Elkins Park, Pa. / The
School at Church Farm), Jourdan Stewart (Danbury,
Conn. / Danbury) and Cameron Boster (Burke, Va. /
Robinson) won with a mark of 3:58.04.
Senior Larry Abel (Westport, Conn. / Staples)
took first place in the 1000 free with his time of 10:57.57,
beating out classmate James Partain (Bound Brook, N.J. /
Bridgewater-Raritan), who touched the wall in 11:01.52.
Partain would go on to win the 100 fly in 58.78.
In the 200 free, Stewart won with a mark of 1:50.65, narrowly
edging classmate Bill Crumrine (Beaver, Pa. / Beaver
Area), who posted a time of 1:50.68. Crumrine would later
win the 100 backstroke in 58.16, a PR.
Nick Boyle (Westfield, N.J. / Westfield) won
the 50 free with a reading of 23.84 and Connor Mitchell
(Newtown, Pa. / Council Rock North) followed in second
place with a time of 24.23.
The 200 IM was captured by Boster with his mark of 2:11.92 and
David Miller (Ithaca, N.Y. / Ithaca) won the 100
free with a reading of 50.27.
Warr took home first place in the 500 free, touching the wall in
5:24.80 and the Crusaders 'A' team won the 400 free
relay in 3:27.90 behind the work of Mitchell, Crumrine, Miller and
Boyle.
On the women's side, SU took home first in the 400 medley
relay as the 'A' squad finished in 4:19.82 behind
Michelle Delgado (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove
Area), Paige Wagner (Rising Sun, Md. / Rising
Sun), Lizzie Richart (Wyncote, Pa. /
Cheltenham) and Annie Bruxelles (Hockessin, Del. /
Sanford School).
Caroline Henderson (Berkeley Heights, N.J. / Governor
Livingston) won the 200 free, touching the wall in
2:03.72, and placed second in the 100 free with a time of 58.34.
Sophomore Val Stearns (North Wales, Pa. / North
Penn) took second in the 1000 free with her mark of
11:37.58.
Richart won the 100 fly, touching the wall in 1:05.09 to edge
Rebecca Harrington (Ridgefield, Conn. /
Ridgefield) who finished in second with a reading of
1:06.51.
In the 200 IM, senior co-captain Sam Meringolo
(Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater-Raritan) finished second
with her time of 2:23.44. Wagner placed second in the 100
breaststroke, posting a mark of 1:13.29.
The Crusaders wrap up competition at Bucknell tomorrow.
