SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna's men's lacrosse team outscored non-conference opponent Lycoming 6-2 in the second half en route to their 10-6 season-opening victory on Sunday afternoon.

Six different players tallied goals for SU (1-0), led by a hat trick by senior John Kerrigan (Maple Glen, Pa. / La Salle College HS). Freshman Connor Moran (Delafield, Wisc./ Kettle Moraine) notched two goals and two assists in his first collegiate action and junior J.B. Montanye (Reisterstown, Md. / Loyola) scored a pair of goals for the Crusaders, who outshot the Warriors 41-24.

The first half was a back and forth battle that ended in a 4-4 tie at halftime. Moran scored the game's first goal – as well as the first of his career – just two minutes into the action to put SU briefly ahead 1-0.

Lycoming (0-2) responded with a score of its own before sophomore Carmen Raroha (Voorhees, N.J. / Bishop Eustace) scored for a 2-1 Crusader lead at the 9:20 mark of the first quarter.

The Warriors strung together back-to-back goals which ultimately marked the final two scores of the period to give Lycoming a slim, 3-2 lead after 15 minutes of action.

The second quarter saw only a combined three scores but two of them were Crusader goals coming from juniors Austen Lein (New Vernon, N.J. / Madison) and Montanye. Montanye's goal knotted the game at four which remained the score at the midway point of the game.

Senior Marcus Cheatham (Reisterstown, Md. / Loyola) opened up the second half with a goal to give SU the lead 5-4 with 13:11 remaining in the third. Kerrigan notched his first goal less than a minute later to increase the advantage to 6-4.

The Warriors scored a man-up goal at 5:23 in the third to get within one (6-5). Moran began with fourth quarter with his second goal less than sixty seconds into the period followed by a pair of Kerrigan scores to give the Crusaders a 9-5 cushion. Montanye registered his second goal of the afternoon with 4:50 remaining in the contest.

Senior goalkeeper Will Torrence (Wallingford, Pa. / Strath Haven) made eight saves in between the pipes for the Crusaders and Dave Rinaldi (Hingham, Mass. / Boston College HS) led SU with four ground balls.

The Crusaders hit the road for back-to-back games beginning Wednesday with a 4 p.m. game at Muhlenberg.
