BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With the regular-season Landmark Conference schedule winding down, the Susquehanna men's basketball team is fighting for a playoff spot and Saturday evening's 77-60 loss at Moravian did not help the Crusaders' postseason cause.

What was a close game for the opening 20 minutes of the game quickly turned Moravian's way as the Greyhounds (14-9, 6-6) out-scored SU (9-14, 5-7) 42-28 in the second half.

Brandon Hedley (Silver Spring, Md./Salisbury Prep) and Mike Perillo (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) netted 11 points apiece for the Crusaders and Harley Sellinger (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) chipped in nine points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Despite only committing 10 turnovers, those 10 SU miscues translated into 21 points for Moravian which also held a 26-20 edge in bench points.

Perillo's three-pointer just 45 seconds into the game gave his team a quick, 3-0 advantage and Hedley sank a three of his own with 15:24 on the clock to put SU ahead 6-2.

Moravian was able to take a 10-8 lead, though, on a D.J. Strayhorn layup that prompted Susquehanna to call a timeout. Right out of that timeout, Tre Dean (Dallas, Texas/Greenhill School) tied the game at 10 with a layup and a Sellinger layup with 8:58 left kept it a tied game at 14-14.

Five straight points from Hedley gave the Crusaders a 19-16 edge with 6:30 left to play in the half. That lead stood at five (23-18) with 5:01 left before a Garrett Johnson three quickly cut that lead to just two (23-21).

At the two-minute mark of the half SU was holding onto a one-point lead, 29-28, but Izel Dickerson closed out the half with a last-second three to give Moravian a 35-32 halftime lead.

After a Perillo free throw kept it a two-point game, 39-37, the Greyhounds put up seven unanswered points to lead 46-37 with 13:54 remaining in the game.

Harvey Pannell (Bloomfield, Conn./St. Thomas More) got off three straight points to keep his team within six points of the lead (48-42) with 12:18 still to play. Unfortunately, Moravian countered with a 7-0 stretch to quickly take a 13-point lead at 55-42.

It quickly turned into a 22-point game, 72-50, as the game hit the five-mark. A late, 7-0 SU run made it 77-60 but the clock wound down inside two minutes and the Crusaders' chances of any comeback ran out of time.

SU plays its final road game of the regular on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. matchup at Juniata.
