Baseball Falls to Moravian

Box Score

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Despite jumping out to a 7-0 lead, Susquehanna baseball couldn't hold off Moravian and fell to the Greyhounds 17-9 on Saturday afternoon to close out their first Landmark Conference home series.

SU (10-12, 4-2) plated seven runs in the second inning, thanks in large part to a three-run blast by senior Nick Ferlise (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River North), his 13th career long ball.

Dylan Glassmire (Doylestown, Pa. / Central Bucks South) led off the frame with a walk followed by a single from Greg Stellon (Chadds Ford, Pa. / Tatnall School). Ty Raubenstine (Elizabethville, Pa. / Upper Dauphin) hit a two-run single scoring Glassmire and Stellon.

Nick Kennedy (Brookeville, Md. / Good Council) and Dan Wing (West Chester, Pa. / Unionville) hit consecutive RBI doubles and Bryan Palsi (Brielle, N.J. / Manasquan) drew a walk before Ferlise's three-run shot to right center, capping off the seven run inning.

Unfortunately, the Greyhounds tallied two runs in the top of third and took the lead, 8-7, after plating six more in the fourth.

Moravian (11-9, 5-4) increased their lead to 9-7 before the Crusaders rallied to knot the contest at 9-9 by scoring twice in the sixth.

Glassmire singled to right to beginning the inning and Stellon reached on a bunt base hit. Jared Musilli (Branchville, N.J. / High Point Regional) also reached on a bunt single and a throwing error by the Greyhounds allowed Glassmire to score. Kennedy cracked a run scoring single to left, bringing home Stellon to tie the game.

However, Moravian scored two runs in the seventh and six in the eighth to jump ahead 17-9, proving to be too much of a deficit for SU to bounce back from.

Raubenstine, Kennedy and Stellon all collected two hits apiece as SU had 11 in the contest. Moravian had 20 hits and both teams were plagued by five errors each.

The Crusaders host non-conference opponent York (Pa.) on Thursday, April 4 at 3:30 p.m.
