SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Despite jumping out to an early 2-1
lead, Susquehanna baseball dropped the third game of this
weekend's Landmark Conference series to Drew 8-4 on Sunday
afternoon.
SU (12-18, 6-6) gave up one run in the top of the first before
tying the game in the bottom of the frame. Bryan Palsi
(Brielle, N.J. / Manasquan) hit a sacrifice fly to left,
scoring Ty Raubenstine (Elizabethville, Pa. / Upper
Dauphin) to knot the contest at 1-1.
The Crusaders took the lead in the second, 2-1, as Greg
Stellon (Chadds Ford, Pa. / Tatnall School) hit a two-out
double down the left field line and later touched home after
Jared Musilli (Branchville, N.J. / High Point
Regional) hit a single to right.
In the third, the Rangers (11-17, 4-8) scored four runs on three
hits to take their first lead of the afternoon, 5-2.
But SU battled back in the bottom half of the seventh, plating a
pair of runs. Nick Kennedy (Brookeville, Md. / Good
Council) reached on a fielder's choice and
eventually scored on an RBI single by Palsi. Dylan
Glassmire (Doylestown, Pa. / Central Bucks South) was hit
by a pitch and the freshman later touched home on a passed ball to
cut the deficit to 5-4.
Unfortunately, the Rangers scored three runs in the top of the
eighth to jump out to an 8-4 advantage. The Crusaders only had one
base runner for the remainder of the game as Drew held on for the
key conference win.
Senior Brian Wendig (West Chester, Pa. / Malvern
Prep) suffered the loss. The southpaw went six innings and
scattered five hits.
The Crusaders play at Elizabethtown on Wednesday, April 17 at 4
p.m.
