ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Josh Cimino (Bel Air, Md. /
C. Milton Wright), Bryan Palsi (Brielle, N.J. /
Manasquan) and Ken Kayama [Koto-Ku, Japan /
Solebury (Pa.)] went a combined 8-for-8 at the plate but
this wasn't enough offensively as Susquehanna fell at Elizabethtown
15-3 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Blue Jays (13-20) scored three runs in the second and third
innings and put up eight runs in the sixth to jump ahead to a 14-0
cushion.
SU (12-19) plated three runs in the top of the eighth to end the
shutout. Kayama reached on a bunt base hit followed by a walk drawn
by Cimino. Mike Rucereto (Washington Twp., N.J. / Bergen
Catholic), appearing in his first game since March 24,
hit a two-run triple to right to put the Crusaders on the
board.
Rucereto later touched home on a sacrifice fly by Dylan
Glassmire (Doylestown, Pa. / Central Bucks South), making
the game 14-3.
Southpaw Sam Eramo (Exeter, Pa. / Wyoming Area)
got the starting nod and suffered the loss. The Crusaders had 11
hits off the Blue Jays, but were plagued by eight errors.
SU remains on the road, traveling to Neumann tomorrow at 4
p.m.
Game Notes: The Crusaders dropped a 14-4
decision to Elizabethtown in Fort Pierce, Fla. back on March 6.
Palsi went 3-for-4 in that contest and
Chris Ryan drove in two RBI.
Since their first meeting in 1930, SU is 61-78 against
Elizabethtown, who will join the Landmark Conference in 2014.
The game was delayed for ten minutes in the bottom of the
seventh when the sprinklers turned on.
