SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Entering the ninth inning trailing by
eight runs, Susquehanna baseball made a five-run rally but
unfortunately couldn't complete the comeback against visiting
York (Pa.) and fell to the Spartans 10-7 on Thursday afternoon.
SU (10-13) was trailing 10-2 entering their final at-bat.
Dylan Glassmire (Doylestown, Pa. / Central Bucks
South) reached base on an error by the left fielder and
Greg Stellon (Chadds Ford, Pa. / Tatnall School)
followed with a single to left.
After a walk by Jared Musilli (Branchville, N.J. / High
Point Regional) to load the bases with no outs, Ty
Raubenstine (Elizabethville, Pa. / Upper Dauphin) hit a
sacrifice fly to center to score Glassmire and make the game 10-3.
Nick Kennedy (Brookeville, Md. / Good Council)
ripped an RBI single down the left field line to make the contest
10-4.
Bryan Palsi (Brielle, N.J. / Manasquan) reached
on a throwing miscue by the York third baseman, helping score
Musilli and cutting the deficit in half, 10-5. Nick Ferlise
(Toms River, N.J. / Toms River North) cracked a two-run
single through the left side to bring the Crusaders within three
runs (10-7). The Spartans brought in their closer, Mike Sarecky,
and he ended the rally for SU.
The Crusaders had eight total hits in the contest, as Kennedy
went 2-for-5 to lead SU. The Crusader infield turned three twin
killings against the Spartans (11-12).
The Crusaders travel to the University of Scranton for a
Landmark Conference series beginning Saturday at 1 p.m.
Game Note: This was the first meeting with York
since 2004 when the Spartans defeated SU 16-2.
