SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna's women's
tennis team dropped their first match of the 2012-13 year on
Saturday afternoon to Landmark Conference foe and reigning league
champion Moravian 5-4.
The loss is the Crusaders' first in 11 matches this season
as SU moves to a 10-1, 1-1 mark.
SU won a pair of singles matches at number two and number six.
Senior Abby Hess (Hughesville, Pa. / Hughesville)
defeated her opponent 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 and sophomore Claire Smyth
(Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg Area) won 7-6 (4), 6-2.
In doubles action, the Crusaders won at number two and three.
Jess Klinger (Hummelstown, Pa. / Hershey) and
Brielle Ferlauto (Neshanic Station, N.J. /
Somerville) combined to win 8-4. Senior Ellen
Pulsinelle (Lyndhurst, N.J. / Immaculate Conception) and
Jessica Lage (Franklin Lakes, N.J. / Immaculate
Heart) won 8-3.
Abby Hess and Ellen Pulsinelle
were both honored in a pre-match ceremony for Senior Day.
