Crusader Tennis Falls to Catholic

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Susquehanna women's tennis team lost a 9-0 decision against Landmark Conference opponent Catholic while the men fell 8-1 to the Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.

The women's record moves to 10-2 overall with a 1-2 mark in Landmark play. The men, meanwhile, are 4-9 on the season with a 1-3 Landmark Conference record.

The first three singles matches went to three sets including Abby Hess's (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) 6-4, 5-7, 6-7 (7-5) loss at second singles.

In the first doubles match, Shelby O'Riley (Ware, Mass./Quabbin Regional) and Hess fell in a close decision [9-58(7-5)] before the Crusaders dropped the final two by 8-4, 8-3 scores.

For the men, the lone win came at second doubles as Mats Haaland (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) and Jeremy Neville (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) won an 8-6 decision. In singles action, every match was decided in straight sets.

The men host Juniata on April 9 at 3:30 p.m. while the women host the Eagles on April 10 also at 3:30 p.m.
