SELINSGROVE, Pa. – With Wednesday afternoon's 24-11 semifinal victory over No. 4 seed Drew, the No. 1 seed Susquehanna women's lacrosse team advanced to the Landmark Conference Championship game for the second-straight year. This time around, however, SU has earned the right to host the game and will face No. 2 seed Catholic on Saturday at 2 p.m.

SU defeated Catholic 15-10 on the road earlier this season.

The No. 11-ranked Crusaders (16-0) broke out for a season-high 24 goals with Emma Ehler (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) and Michelle McGinniss (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) leading the way with seven each. Brynn Reid (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) and Lindsey Derstine (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) each recorded a hat trick and Meredith Crane (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) chipped in two goals and two assists.

After surrendering seven first-half goals to the Rangers (8-10), the SU defense limited Drew to just four goals over the final 30 minutes of action. The Crusaders committed just 15 turnovers all game while forcing 23 by the Rangers and held a 26-12 edge in ground balls.

It was actually Drew that took the early momentum despite Derstine's goal 26 seconds in the action. After that game-opening goal, the Rangers netted four unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead with 22:53 remaining in the half.

SU responded with five-straight goals from four different players to regain the lead at 6-4. The Rangers scored the ensuing goal for a 6-5 game, but the Crusaders proceeded to score nine of the next 11 goals to take a commanding eight-goal lead at halftime (15-7). Susquehanna netted three goals within the final 2:52 while holding the Rangers without a goal for the remaining 3:22 of the half.

The second half saw SU put nine more goals on the board while holding Drew to only four. The Crusaders took a game-high 15-goal lead, 23-8, on Crane's goal at the 12:45 mark of the half. Becky McHugh (Royersford, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) capped off Susquehanna's scoring with an unassisted goal at the 2:28 mark that made it 24-10 and SU went on to the 24-11 win.

Goalie Emily Stankaitis (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) played all 60 minutes and had four saves.
