SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The 2013 home opener for
Susquehanna's men's soccer team was not kind as the
Crusaders fell to Centenary 1-0 on Friday evening in the opening
game of the Mid-Atlantic College Classic.
SU (0-1) outshot the Cyclones 29-5 and had multiple chances to
find the back of the net the entire match, but could not
capitalize. The Crusaders also held an 8-0 advantage in
corners.
Centenary (1-0) notched the match's lone score in the
opening minutes of the second half as Luis Marin cracked an
unassisted goal past goalkeeper Matt Salsman (Selinsgrove,
Pa. / Selinsgrove Area).
Seniors Patrick Fry (Denver, Colo. / Colorado
Academy) and Andrew Murphy (Natick, Mass. /
Natick) each had a game-high five shots, with four of
Fry's being on goal.
David Trank (Mendham, N.J. / West Morris
Mendham) and Sam Tana (Baldwin, Md. / St.
Paul's) both had four shots apiece with freshman
Jake Heyser (Westmont, N.J. / Bishop Eustace Prep)
adding three shots off the bench.
The Crusaders will look to bounce back tomorrow as they host St.
Joseph's (Long Island) at 5 p.m.
