HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's volleyball team ended its weekend at the Haverford Tournament with a win over the host Fords followed by a loss at the hands of No. 16 Eastern. The Crusaders finished the tournament with a 3-1 record.
SU (3-1) defeated Haverford (2-2) by a 3-2 score (25-20, 23-25, 25-20, 22-25, 15-13) before falling to the Eagles 3-0 (23-25, 18-25, 23-25).
With the win over Haverford, head coach Kuuipo Tom won his 200th career game, all at the helm of the SU program.
Against the Fords, Jessica Holm (Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills) led all players with 21 kills while freshman Erin Byrne (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) added 16 kills, 14 digs, three block assists, two service aces and two assists.
Sophomore Kady Faller (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) added 13 kills while Sarah Paluck (Nesquehoning, Pa./Tamaqua Area) racked up 34 digs and freshman Maggie O'Hearn (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) finished with 46 assists and 14 digs. Hayley Dunkel (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) was active on the net, contributing six block assists.
In the final match of the weekend, the Crusaders hung tough against Eastern (4-0). Byrne had another 14 kills to go along with seven digs and finished with a .419 attack percentage. Paluck led the team with 14 digs while O'Hearn tallied 24 assists and six digs.
Byrne and O'Hearn were both named the the All-Tournament team.
Susquehanna returns to action when the squad hosts the Crusader Classic on Sept. 6-8.
