WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – In search of their fifth-straight win, Susquehanna's field hockey team fell at King's (Pa.) 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Crusaders (4-2) found themselves trailing 1-0 after surrendering a penalty stroke goal at 18:57 in the first half.
But SU responded with the tying goal as freshman Lauren Cram (East Brunswick, N.J. / East Brunswick) took a long pass from senior Erica Reichart (Gettysburg, Pa. / Gettysburg Area) and fired inside the left post, knotting the game at 1-1 with only four minutes remaining in the opening period.
Unfortunately, the Monarchs (3-2) tallied three unanswered goals in the second half on only four shots.
Cram led the way offensively with four shots and sophomore Katherine Millett (Auburn, Maine / North Yarmouth Academy) fired three shots to pace the Crusaders.
Both teams finished with 10 shots and SU held the edge in penalty corners, 11-5.
Goalkeeper Margaret Ruth (Lewisberry, Pa. / Northern) suffered the defeat as the senior finished with three saves.
SU will look to bounce back at Marywood on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m.
