ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's soccer team is
still in search of its first win of 2013 after the Crusaders
dropped a 4-0 road contest at Lebanon Valley on Saturday
afternoon.
SU (0-5) was out-shot by a 17-3 margin but Susquehanna goalie
Rachel Norbuts (Monroeville, N.J./Woodstown) came
up with eight stop in goal after playing all 90 minutes. Norbuts
and the Crusader defense surrendered only one first-half goal.
Marissa DeParto (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Indian
Hills) accounted for all three of Susquehanna's
shots in the match.
After 20 minutes of play, the Flying Dutchmen had out-shot SU 5-1
but the game remained scoreless. That changed when Lebanon
Valley's Heather Tran scored in the 27th minute to
go up 1-0, which remained the score at halftime.
Fourteen minutes into the second half, Lebanon Valley struck again
for a two-goal lead. With less than 18 minutes to play, the Flying
Dutchmen tacked on another goal for a 3-0 advantage over SU and
then added a fourth goal with just over three minutes remaining to
put the game out of reach for the Crusaders.
SU returns home to host Penn State Harrisburg on Sept. 17 at 7
p.m.
