WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's tennis
team defeated Lycoming 8-1 on Thursday evening to grab its second
victory of the fall season.
SU (2-1) defeated the Warriors (0-2) 8-1, dropping just one
singles set.
The Crusaders won their first three singles matches with
Jessica Klinger (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey)
grabbing a 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 win at first singles. Brielle
Ferlauto (Neshanic Station, N.J./Somerville) won her match
at second singles 6-3, 6-1 while Jessica Lage (Franklin
Lakes, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) won in straight sets
at third singles (6-0, 6-0).
Freshmen Alyssa Fleischman (Madison, Conn./Daniel
Hand) and Megan Rudloff (Milton, Pa./Milton
Area) both grabbed wins at fifth and sixth singles,
respectively.
SU went on to sweep all three doubles matches, starting with
Klinger and Ferlauto's 8-5 win at first doubles.
Christine Bender (Amityville, N.Y./Long Island
Lutheran) and Fleishmann clinched an 8-5 win at second
doubles and Rudloff and Stephanie Painter (Westfield,
Pa./Cowanesque Valley) won 8-4 in at third doubles.
The team is back at home on Sunday, Sept. 22 to host King's
(Pa.) at 12 p.m.
