ALTOONA, Pa. – After capturing its first win of 2013 on
Tuesday, Susquehanna's women's soccer team could not
continue its winning ways, falling at Penn State Altoona 1-0 on
Saturday afternoon.
The Crusaders (1-6) surrendered the game's lone goal in
the 20th minute, as Altoona's Allysia
Ketchem headed in the score after the ball bounced off the
crossbar to hand SU an early deficit.
In the first half, the Lions (2-4) outshot SU 5-3 and had the
edge in corners, 1-0.
Both teams fired off four shots in the second period, but
neither could find the back of the net as Penn State Altoona hung
on for the non-conference victory.
Junior Samantha Zuponcic (Manuta, Ohio / Crestwood /
Hiram) led the SU attack with three shots, two being on
goal.
Classmate Kate Wiley (Sellersville, Pa. /
Pennridge) contributed two shots off the bench while
Hannah Jones (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg Area /
Bucknell) and Theresa Ellis (Quakertown, Pa. /
Southern Lehigh) accounted for the rest of the
Crusaders' offense, with one shot apiece.
Senior goalkeeper Rachel Norbuts (Monroeville, N.J. /
Woodstown) made three saves on the afternoon.
The Crusaders will look to get back on track on Wednesday, Sept.
25 by hosting Wilkes at 7 p.m.
