SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Hosting the first of two meets this weekend, the Susquehanna women's swimming team fell to Bloomsburg 124-80 on Friday evening.
Freshman Ashlee Weingarten (Hackettstown, N.J. / Hackettstown) captured first place in the 100 fly with her time of 1:01.43. Kelsey Lessard (Chestertown, Md. / Queen Anne's County) won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.85, edging out Alex Bornman (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) who finished in second place in 1:13.11.
The Crusaders finished in second place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:55.19 behind the work of Erin McElwee (Phoenixville, Pa. / Phoenixville Area), Bornman, Weingarten and Lexi Cole (Danville, Pa. / Danville Area).
In the 1,000 free, senior Kate Mays (Holland, Pa. / Nazareth Academy) placed third with her mark of 11:35.04. Freshman Caroline Henderson (Berkeley Heights, N.J. / Governor Livingston) posted a fourth-place finish in the 200 free, touching the wall in 2:04.07.
Junior Kyle Seaman (Moreland Hills, Ohio / Orange) posted the third-fastest time in the 50 free, turning in a mark of 25.74, barely missing out on a PR. Bornman followed in fifth place in 25.79, also narrowly missing a personal-best mark.
Lessard finished in second place during the 200 IM, recording a time of 2:18.09. In the 100 free, Seaman turned in a fourth-place showing, registering a mark of 56.64. Cole followed in fifth place with a time of 57.87.
In the 100 back, McElwee finished in third with a mark of 1:04.40 and senior Michelle Delgado (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area) posted a fourth-place time, touching the wall in 1:05.61.
Annie Bruxelles (Hockessin, Del. / Sanford School) placed third in the 500 free with a time of 5:38.13. Sophomore Val Stearns (North Wales, Pa. / North Penn) followed in fourth place with her mark of 5:44.03.
The Crusaders wrapped up the night's festivities by winning the 200 free relay in 1:46.63 behind Bruxelles, Lizzie Richart (Wyncote, Pa. / Cheltenham), Lessard and Seaman.
The Crusaders host Franklin & Marshall tomorrow at 2 p.m. for Senior Day.
