Box Score ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Susquehanna field hockey team dropped a 4-1, Friday evening game at Landmark Conference opponent Elizabethtown.
The Blue Jays (7-5, 2-1) clearly had the momentum in the game, taking 23 shots to SU's five. Elizabethtown also had eight penalty corners while limiting the Crusaders (6-7, 1-2) to three.
The game was scoreless for the first 16:34 minutes of play before Elizabethtown's Andrea Keady scored twice in a 50-second span and it quickly turned into a 2-0 Blue Jays' lead.
However, just three minutes after Keady's second goal, Emily Novakovich (Saratoga, Calif./Lynbrook) scored an unassisted goal to trim Elizabethtown's lead in half (2-1). Novakovich finished with two of the Crusaders' five shots on the night.
Unfortunately, the Blue Jays were able to score their third goal of the game at the 27:43 mark of the first half and they took that 3-0 lead into the half.
The Crusaders' defense held Elizabethtown to just one goal in the second period, a Taylor Alwine goal with 54:14 on the clock, but unfortunately Susquehanna was held to just four shots and no goals over the final 35 minutes of play.
SU returns home to host Juniata on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.
