Field Hockey Shut Out by Eighth-Ranked Cardinals

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Susquehanna field hockey team was shut out 4-0 by No. 8 Catholic University on Saturday afternoon in Washington, D.C.

SU was only able to get two shots off in the game while the Cardinals had 18, 11 of which were on goal. That forced Crusader goalie Alyssa Rothman (Trooper, Pa./Methacton) to make seven saves, five of which came in the first 35 minutes of play. Catholic also had eight penalty corners while limiting Susquehanna to none.

The Cardinals scored their first goal at the 12:51 mark of the first half and exactly three minutes later, Hayley Wright scored the team's second goal for a quick, 2-0.

The third different Catholic player scored when Taylor Elliott found the back of the cage in the 23rd minute to put her squad up 3-0.

The remainder of the half passed without another goal but Maura Campbell added an insurance goal with nine minutes to play in the game for the final 4-0 margin of victory.

Susquehanna closes out its season on Nov. 1 against Goucher at 1 p.m. The team will honor its senior members prior to the start of the game.
