SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Amanda Neveroski's (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Susquehanna softball team a doubleheader sweep of visiting Wilkes on Thursday afternoon.

SU (15-9) won a 7-0 decision in the opener before Neveroski's home run gave the Crusaders a 6-5 game two victory to extend the team's win streak to eight. Additionally, SU has now won 12-straight games against Wilkes and are 33-19 against the Lady Colonels since 1982.

Susquehanna scored six of its seven runs over the first two innings of game one. Claire Hanratty (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) went 3-for-3 and six others players had one hit in the game with Neveroski going 1-for-4 with two runs scored. Sam LaCoe (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) had one hit, three RBI and one run scored.

Morgan Lewis (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) threw all seven innings and allowed just four hits while striking out 13 Wilkes batters.

A Colonels' fielding error allowed the first run of the game to score and Bridget Rafter's (Highlands, N.J./Henry Hudson Regional) RBI single plated LaCoe, who had reached on the error. A second Colonels' miscue allowed the inning's third run to score and a passed ball made it 4-0 after just one inning of play.

The Crusaders added two more runs the very next inning when an error on LaCoe's single scored two more runs for a 6-0 game.

Another Wilkes error in the fourth inning allowed Hanratty to score after she had led off the inning with a double.

Lewis did not allow a Wilkes batter to get past first base over the final two innings to preserve the 7-0 SU victory.

A game two victory seemed to be well in hand as the Crusaders led 5-1 after six full innings of play but the Colonels' plated four runs in their half of the seventh inning, tying the game at five, before Neveroski's game-winning shot in the bottom of the inning.

Neveroski finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI while LaCoe drove in two runs on one hit.

Jamie Fesinstine (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) pitched the first six innings before giving way to Rafter. After surrendering four runs on four hits, Fesinstine came in to get the final two outs of the inning and got credit for the win, her eighth of the season.

SU took a 1-0 lead after two innings before putting four runs on the board in the third inning. LaCoe's double to left field allowed two runs to score and three Wilkes errors in the inning helped contribute to the four-run inning.

Wilkes (4-18) pushed one run across the plate in the fourth but left two runners stranded in the fifth and Susquehanna maintained a 5-1 lead.

Rafter came out to pitch the seventh inning and gave up four runs on five hits as the Colonels tied the game at five with just one out, prompting the SU coaching staff to call on Fesinstine to re-enter the game. Fesinstine worked out of the inning without allowing another run to keep it a tie game.

Neveroski led off the bottom of the seventh and promptly drilled the ball down the right field line and out of the ballpark for the walk-off win.

Susquehanna remains at home to host Muhlenberg on Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
